Marcel Maglo is a Programs Manager at the Fund for Peace (FFP). Marcel manages conflict early warning and peace building programs at FFP, including the Reacting to Early Warning and Response Data (REWARD) program in the fifteen member states of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Marcel provides orientation and technical capacity building on data driven approaches to early warning to a host of civil society organizations, government entities and sub-regional organizations including  ECOWAS and the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS). In addition, Marcel has led field assessment missions on conflict risks and vulnerability in Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea Bissau, Senegal, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Gambia, Niger and Ghana. Marcel is also a subject matter expert and facilitates an Advanced State Fragility and Conflict Analysis course at Global Affairs Canada to civilian and defense staff.

Prior to joining FFP, Marcel was a Civil Affairs Officer in charge of Reporting and Analysis with the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali supporting the United Nations mandates dealing with the restoration of state authorities, empowerment of civil society for effective participation and ownership of the Malian Peace and Reconciliation Agreement and the strengthening of grassroots populations’ capacity in conflict mitigation for peace consolidation. He has also held the position of Content Manager at the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs where he monitored, integrated and analyzed information from multiple online databases on ongoing political crises, disasters and complex emergencies.

Marcel gained technical and program experience during his mediation case management in the U.S. court as a registered mediator and delivered mediation and facilitation training in Israel and in the Palestinian Territories within refugee communities. Marcel hails from Togo, with extensive knowledge and experience in West Africa. Marcel is fluent in English, French and Ewe.

Marcel holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Affairs and a Master of Science in Conflicts Management from Kennesaw State University in the U.S.
