Kayla was born in Washington D.C. but grew up in Jacksonville, FL. She graduated from the University of Miami in 2016, with a B.A. in International Studies and Political Science and a minor in Latin American Studies. She is currently in the second year of her M.A. program in International Peace and Conflict Resolution at American University’s School of International Service. Kayla’s concentrations are International Negotiation and Culture, Identity & Peace. Kayla has studied in Buenos Aires, Argentina and interned in Lima, Peru. She has research interests in post-peace agreement Colombia as well as female guerilla combatants, more specifically in the DDR process. Kayla aspires to build a career in the field of conflict resolution and peace-building. In her free time, Kayla enjoys photography, food, and travel.
